Your information, treated with care

Last updated: 16 August 2026

Women of Inspiration exists because people trust us — with their stories, their support and their details. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how we look after it. We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

Depending on how you’re involved, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, postal address, and records of your donations, ticket purchases, merchandise orders or volunteering. If you share dietary or accessibility needs for an event, or a personal story connected to cancer, we treat that information as especially sensitive and use it only for the purpose you gave it to us.

How we collect it

Almost always directly from you — when you buy a ticket or merchandise, make a donation, sign up to hear from us, sponsor an event or simply email us. Our website also collects some technical information automatically (like browser type and pages visited) through cookies and analytics, which helps us understand how the site is used. You can switch cookies off in your browser and the site will still work.

Why we use it

To do the things you’ve asked us to do: process orders and donations, get your tickets to you, keep you posted about events you’re attending, send updates if you’ve opted in, thank our supporters, and meet our legal and reporting obligations as a registered charity. We don’t send marketing without your consent, and every email we send includes an easy way to unsubscribe.

Who we share it with

The short version: nobody who doesn’t need it, and we never sell it. Trusted service providers help us operate — payment processors, our ticketing platform (such as TryBooking), our website host (WordPress.com) and email services — and they only receive what they need to do their job. Some of these providers store data overseas (for example in the United States); where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How we protect it

We keep digital records in access-controlled, password-protected systems, limit who can see them to the small team who genuinely need to, and securely delete information when it’s no longer required. No internet transmission is ever completely secure, so please take care with what you send us — but know that we take our end seriously.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we’re able to. Just email womenofinspo@gmail.com and we’ll respond within 30 days.

Complaints

If you believe we’ve mishandled your information, please tell us first — we genuinely want to fix it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Updates to this policy

We’ll update this page if our practices change, and the date at the top will always tell you when. Questions about anything here: womenofinspo@gmail.com.
